LIONS ROAR IN 2009/10 GRAND FINAL

In a great game which matched the top two teams from the regular season, the Lions and Taipans played exciting, aggressive baseball ending in a 6-4 victory for the Lions.

Pitching was the dominant factor for the majority of the game with Lachlan Burke leading the way with 2 shutout innings.  Justin Burke also pitched well and hit a home run which led to a 4 run rally.

Charlie Schilling behind the plate was like a brick wall with nothing getting passed.   Josh Watts, Aussie Smart and Miles Townshend all came through with hits in the big 4 run 4th inning. Jarryd Dale, Nathan Allridge and Kieran Large all had great days in the field.  MVP and team inspiration Brooke Kennedy was again an amazing contributor.

Congratulations to both the Taipans and Lions on a tremendous contest.

BOBCATS PREVAIL OVER RATTLERS IN 2009 GRAND FINAL 8-5

2008/09 U12 LEAGUE - BOBCATS

After a thrilling pair of semi-finals the top two teams at the end of the regular season squared off to determine the U12 domestic league champion for 2008-09.

Due to a rain out the previous week, both teams had to overcome stiff opposition in the first of the double header games to have a shot at the title.  In Semi final 1, the Bobcats advanced over the Pythons due to outstanding pitching by Lachie Burke, solid defence and a last inning 2 run homer by Oliver Dunn.  The Rattlers showed tremendous team spirit in Semi final 2, to stage a great fight back against the Adders, winning after being 8 runs behind.

In the final, both teams were tested for depth and it was great to see all players grabbing their opportunity producing some outstanding defensive and offensive baseball.  The Bobcat hitters broke out the big bats in the third and fourth innings culminating in 2 four run rallies.  A double to Charlie Schilling down the leftfield line, great base running by Cal Grant and long home run to right field by Justin Burke led the way.

All four teams should be congratulated on the standard of play a great day of baseball for the Waverley Baseball Club.

ADDERS WIN U12 DOMESTIC LEAGUE FINAL FOR 2006/07

G. Final Report:     Adders 1 d. Pythons 0
Adders are the domestic Under 12 champions for 2006/07.
Both the Adders and the Pythons should be congratulated firstly for reaching the grand-final and secondly for playing in such a good tight contest. A one run game game is not something we usually experience and it was fantastic to be a part of a match that was so exciting, contained good pitching and produced some nice plays. The game was up for grabs at all times and the winning run came in the bottom of the 3rd dig after Matthew Homfray doubled into centre-left and was brought home by Max Dicker with a scorching line drive down the 3rd base line.

Adders: 5 innings; 23 at bats; 6 hits; 1 run (Hits: Matthew Homfray 2, Karan Khusu 2, Max Dicker & William Barbis 1)
Pythons: 5 innings; 16 at bats; 0 hits; 0 runs
